Poke & Tell ("the app") is a party game played in person, on phones that join one game with a 6-digit code. We built it to work without collecting anything about you.
The short version
- We do not collect, sell, share or receive any personal data.
- There are no accounts, ads, analytics, tracking or crash-reporting services in the app.
- Game messages travel between the phones in your game through a relay server, in real time. The relay passes them along and keeps nothing.
What the app stores, and where
All storage is on your own devices, in the app's private storage.
| On the host phone | Kept until |
|---|---|
| Player names you type in and the current game's state, including secret roles, so a game can recover if the app closes | The next round replaces it, or you end or exit the session |
| Round history: counts and timings only (for example, number of players, round length, which team won). No names and no roles | You clear it (Settings › Round history) or delete the app |
| Your settings (sounds, haptics, timers, motion preference) | You change them or delete the app |
| On a station phone | Kept until |
|---|---|
| A random station token so the phone can rejoin the same game after a dropout, and an in-progress Challenge | The phone leaves the session |
| A random device identifier created by the app (not your Apple ID or any hardware ID) | You delete the app |
Online play
The phones in a game exchange game messages through a relay we run on Cloudflare (a small Cloudflare Worker). A station finds the game with the 6-digit code shown on the host phone. These messages include the game's name, player names, station names, the game's public state and Challenge results. They never include secret roles or teams, which stay on the host phone. The relay delivers each message to the other phones in the same game as it happens and does not store it or log it. Cloudflare, which runs the servers, processes connection data such as IP addresses to deliver the traffic, under its own privacy policy. The app asks for no device permissions.
Purchases
The optional Host Unlock is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment information or Apple Account. The app asks Apple's StoreKit whether the purchase exists on your device, and Apple's privacy policy covers that transaction.
Children
The app collects no personal information from anyone, including children. Players' names entered for a game stay on the host phone, as described above.
